20 October 2012

As everyone knows, Christmas day really isn't Christmas day without a lumpy stocking, and Spirit has everything to make the whole unwrapping of small prezzies an altogether fabulous experience for that style loving girl in your life!
From Rosie Fox's vintage inspired jewellery providing sparkly glamour, to Shruti's boho purses, and snuggly scarves and gloves from Pia Rossini... all at fantastic prices for that last cherry on the cake gesture!

We know it's a little early to be harking (herald angels!! ooh we're good!) on about Christmas, which is why we're not dressing up as Santa's helpers yet, but getting organised now will mean there'll be more time to sit in front of the tv with a large Baileys and watch The Wizard of Oz for the 700th time, hurrah!!

Isabel De Pedro - Rio 2012

With inspiration taken from literature, cinema, art and countries and cultures worldwide, Spanish designer Isabel de Pedro never fails to come up with extraordinarily beautiful and individual collections.  Spring/summer 2012 is, happily, no different as she transports us to Rio de Janeiro with all the colour, excitement and glamour associated with Brazil and its carnival!

Renowned for her supremely sexy, figure hugging sheath dresses in fabulous lycra mix fabric, this season Isabel certainly doesn't disappoint!  As well as being gorgeous to look at, dresses and tops are comfortable and can be dressed up or down - the only difficulty you may have is choosing between the designs!  This season there is a palette of black, white, hot orangey reds and vibrant purples with snakeprint, exotic flowers and polka dots all making traffic stopping appearances!

Isabel de Pedro's designs celebrate, rather than trying to hide the curves of  the female form.  Her fans love her because she creates ultra feminine, dramatic, original pieces and her ultimate goal is to ensure the wearer feels confident and totally beautiful!  Check out the new Isabel de Pedro collection in Spirit Bradford on Avon and Marlborough or on our website now and get ready to join the party!

Part Two Have It Covered

Part Two is a well loved and well established brand here at Spirit. It never fail to impress us by keeping their designs interesting and up-to-date and Spring 2012 is certainly no different.  This season, navy and chalk are clearly the top colours on the block, but no brand has represented them better, in our humble opinions, than Part Two.
It’s so great to have the new season stock trickling into our stores at the moment and Part Two has done the Spring/Summer collection superbly this year.  With the heat wave just around the corner (we hope!!!) it’s time to ditch those winter knits and slip into something a little fresher.
This collection will prepare you for any summer party invite that falls through your letter box.  Whether it’s a BBQ on the beach in one of their nautical based tunics or sipping a Pimms at a garden party in cool separates, Part Two has the look covered. Head Designer, Pernille Skriver, has a real talent for maintaining an elegant and sophisticated look even when producing the most casual of pieces.
We love this collection (as you can probably tell), but don’t just take our word for it – come in and try for yourself, if you can build the mental strength to strip off in this weather that is!

Brand New - Maison Scotch

The air at the Spirit headquarters was ripe with excitement when we heard that Spring 2012 would see us stocking the Amsterdam based fashion brand Maison Scotch for the first time.  We had heard rumours that it was a classic brand with a young and fast edge to it – and now that the boxes have finally arrived, it is clear that the rumours are true.
With stockists including Harrods in London and Saks Fifth Ave in New York this fabulous brand has already conquered the big players in the fashion industry and it is clear to see why.  With Maison’s mix of neon chinos, fitted jackets and printed tees, it is easy to be transported to the memories of the long summer nights in the city that inspired this season’s collection.  Any range made up of such a varied mix of colours and styles is OK by us and this collection seamlessly marries both the edgy vibe of New York’s street style and the “je ne sais quoi” sense of style that Parisian’s hold.  We also love that with every tee comes with a free camera necklace…the perfect finishing touch to your Maison Scotch outfit.
The Spirit girls are dying to get their hands on this new collection – so pop into the store fast and treat yourself to what really feels like an early Summer holiday, before it all flies off the shelves!

Day Birger et Mikkelsen - Enigmatic Contrasts

SPRING SUMMER 2012 - WOMEN’S COLLECTION

Sophistication, craftsmanship and unconventional style are ever inspirational leitmotifs for Day Birger et Mikkelsen, who makes a vibrant and versatile style statement for Spring Summer 2012. The unique bohemian heritage is taken to a new level by channelling a clean, modern and edgy vibe to the design DNA and thus creating an eclectic collection for the free-spirited and creative mind.

Day Birger et Mikkelsen introduces the new true to season wardrobe where contrasts are the key marker for a collection of timeless, functional pieces that enables women to dress in chic everyday outfits as well as more exquisite styles for evening wear.

An important theme in the collection evolves around ‘aestetic decay’ – a fusion of opposite attractions in which fabrics are combined in tasteful yet untraditional ways. Pure material and treated leather are transformed into graceful, feminine pieces of garments. Romantic detailing with lace and lingerie trimmings are re-toned and applied into a more cool and deconstructed look.

Two other inspirational frames, ‘classic horizon’ and ‘natural born bohemians’, offer an interesting play in the collection. It creates a new dynamic between feminine grace, luscious fabrics, ethnic décor and embellishment in junction with masculine tailoring, raw detailing and cool, minimal dressing.

Contemporary tailoring flirts with graphic artwork and presents essential items in draping, light fabrics like silk, rayon and modal. The Bohemian aesthetic is revised portraying an unpretentious blend of styles from different decades and origins. Artwork, detailing and print meet in a vivid melange of exclusive craftsmanship and originality.

The colour stories are divided into accents of light neutrals, grey and metallic tones and get a warmer touch through softer pastels, earth tone and sunkissed yellow.

Spring Summer 2012 at Day Birger et Mikkelsen exudes a modern, understated elegance charged by enigmatic contrasts that create strong, lasting looks for women who dresses unpretentious cool.

Beautiful Butter By Nadia

Nadia Tarr, the quite brilliant (and self taught) designer behind the Butter by Nadia range was a dancer and choreographer in her previous career - which perhaps accounts for the beautiful flow and movement of these dresses.  'Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?' was the cry when we saw the myriad of ways the pieces can be worn, but then isn't that true of every great innovation?
The concept is simple - in both the full length and knee length dress two wide bands of fabric creating the upper part of the garment can be wrapped and draped to create halter necks, plunging necklines, strapless and backless dresses which fit the wearer like they were made for them....which infact they were.
The resulting dress is stop the traffic glamorous, so it's little wonder that Butter by Nadia is a firm favourite with some of Hollywood's fashion elite - Sarah Jessica Parker and Naomi Watts are both big fans!
The perfect holiday dress (why take five when one can be transformed so completely?!), ultra flattering and super comfortable, Butter by Nadia designs are revolutionising the fashion world - why not come and see what all the excitement is about!

Available in all four stores and online

Save The Queen...

Elena Fantini,  founder and designer of the utterly fabulous Save the Queen label,  is passionate about keeping alive the traditional skills passed down through generations of Italian craftsmen and the range often includes stunning pieces of  hand embroidery by artisans from Tuscany and Abruzzi.
The beauty of the range is that it marries quirky individuality, superb design and true Italian style and, as with all Save the Queen pieces, you'll find yourself treasuring them for years!   Elena has done it once again this season, producing a range of dresses, tunics, coats and knitwear that are quite simply stunning!
The colours for autumn/ winter 2011 encompass so many beautiful pallettes - from the ethereal lilacs, blues and purples found in a chiffon and jersey tunic dress to dramatic blacks and greens seen in a super fitted sheath dress.  Knitwear comes into its own this season with super cosy long cardigans - all with trademark individuality - a multicoloured revere here, a cobweb mohair sleeve there...
Coats this year include a fantastic grey jacket with an embroidered back, fur collar and a lining that will have you deliberately draping it inside out over  your chair!
Always exciting, always original and totally beautiful, Save the Queen almost defies description - why not come into Spirit and see why this label has such an avid following!

DAY Birger et Mikkelsen...

Day Birger et Mikkelsen’s Autumn Winter 2011 is an inspiring journey that brings together elements from different continents and presents a timeless collection.
A fascinating composition of elements that meet in an attractive mix of colours, striking details and classic elegance.
The autumn collection makes intriguing references to the classic men’s wardrobe, combining a tailored look with a casual expression. A more romantic and feminine dimension is worked into the collection with interesting bead details, embellishment and vintage lace adorning the neckline and shoulders on dresses, cardigans and blouses.
The collection also presents an organic silk print and an interesting new interpretation of the classic paisley print, a theme repeated on oversize dresses, tunics and blouses, and which gives to the collection a modern bohemian touch.
The colours in the collection go from subtle tones in sand and brown that are broken with neutral nuances such as black and army green to strong tones of mustard yellow and clear green. Tones of grey and nude blend in beautifully to give a sophisticated finish.

Nougat

The Nougat collection this season is ultra feminine and seems to span history for inspiration! Ancient Greece is seen in the flattering draped silhouette of the fine jersey dresses. With a palette ranging from soft sages, browns and lilac greys to fabulous jewelled blues and violets, the look is understated and sexy. The 1950's is also an influence within the range, geometric patterned knee length skirts and sleeveless dresses are straight out of Desperate Housewives and a stunning fitted white dress is seemingly borrowed from Audrey Hepburn! Perfectly cut linen trousers teamed with beautifully embroidered vest tops are simply timeless, and complete a collection in Spirit that is perfect summer wear, romantic and beautifully feminine....very Nougat!

Isabel de Pedro - Atelier

An explosion of flowers and a witty celebration of the art of the dressmakers studio are the two themes found running through Isabel de Pedro's breathtaking spring/summer collection.
An exciting palette of vivid blues, crimsons and chartreuse are something of a departure for the Spanish designer, with prints ranging from impressionist poppies to delicate floral sprigs.
The style is pure Isabel, draping around the body, cinching the waist and always flattering the female form.
A turquoise knee length dress with more than a hint of forties glamour sits alongside a figure hugging black lycra dress with the 'pattern' cut on the outside. A tape measure is wrapped around the body of a jersey dress while the needles and threads of the dressmakers studio can be seen in an abstract chiffon print over an easy summer piece.
Timeless classics with a twist are found in the hourglass silhouette of the super glam black cocktail dress and the gentle swing of the artfully cut full length jersey skirt with silk panel inserts.
Isabel de Pedro's new collection is sometimes quirky, often witty and truly original. It is also designed for real women and is very, very beautiful.

Save The Queen

This season sees Save the Queen taking inspiration from some of Europe's most exciting capitals.  The Italian designer Elena Fantini has created her beautiful range using colours, scenes and patterns from life in cities such as Venice, Berlin and Istanbul and with her unnerring flair and style has produced astonishing fabrics and pieces that are both breathtakingly original and eminently wearable.

Quirky Save the Queen touches that fans of this label hold so dear are very much in evidence - hand embroidery, ruching, show stopping additions such as the fabric necklace and the options of a soft scarf or a removable sleeve all ensure each piece is a total original. Many of the dresses can be worn alone or with leggings and will take a woman through a stylish lunchtime event to a funky night out.

Very beautiful.
Very Save the Queen.

Save the Queen is available in Bradford on Avon.

Not Your Daughters Jeans

One of our favourites!
Here they remind us why...
"Some people say that youth is wasted on the young. But age has its distinct advantages. You're a little wiser, a lot more confident and face it - sexier than ever. You're not a teenager anymore - you've been there and now you're past it, beyond it and happy to be exactly where and who you are. You wouldn't trade places with your daughter or trade clothes with her either. That's not your style. "Not Your Daughters Jeans" celebrates the beauty of women who know who they are and know that they don't need to impress anyone but themselves. Women like you.
Slip on a pair of "Not Your Daughters Jeans" and discover that comfort and style are not mutually exclusive. These are the jeans you wished for in the harsh light of the dressing room. The jeans you used to hope would magically appear in your closet. These are the jeans that will respect you in the morning, look good coming and going and make you proud of every single curve - maybe for the first time ever. Here's to our Lift Tuck technology that will make you look a full size smaller.
Here's to defying gravity with denim.
Here's to jeans that will never let you down.
Here's to NYDJ."

We stock NYDJ in both Devizes and Bradford on Avon
